Okay...here is one that I found real quick...and I know that I am jumping in here late... I am all about symbolism and things like that, so...I found this... [See Kenyon's post below...he is helping b/c I don't have photobucket yet] This is Yak Loum lake in the Ratanakiri province of northeastern Cambodia. Due to it's tremendous depth, the water is clear and clean. The lake is almost perfectly round as well. We can take symbolism from this and describe how we feel we are a well-rounded tribe with great depth...which if you believe in kicking the girls tails in this game...you better believe that or quit now. So, let me know...but now is the time, b/c if you are reading this it is probably Jan 3!

That's an awesome idea. I did a little more research on Yak Loum and I found this:
"It features in a number of local legends, in which spirits and other beings are said to reside in the lake's water."
"...the area around it used to be spirit forests, areas that are traditionally not cut for swidden fields and where hunting and fishing is prohibited."
"...told me about spirit, dragons, and the elders told me that you can’t swim if you’re not pure or innocent person."
I also searched lakes of cambodia and noticed that 2 of them are called Tonle Sap and Tonle Bei (or something). To me, this implies that - like English - the first word indicates Lake and the second word is the specific modification of that. From that, I infer that Yak is a similar word, so the identifying word of Yak Loum is Loum (which separates it from other bodies of water).
Soo I also realized that Phka chhouk isn't lotus... it is 'lotus flower' with chhouk meaning flower.
Based on the huge symbolism of the lotus in Cambodia and Buddhism, accompanied with the mystical aura of Yak Loum, wouldn't Phkaloum be pretty cool? I'm guessing it's pronounced like fah-kah-low-m. When you say it together, it does have a nice ring to it, and it reads like lotus on the spiritual lake.

UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
CAN I SAY I JUST LIKE PEED MYSELF FROM READING SUCH AMAZINGNESS AT WORK?
lol.
That was really like cool. I can see the banner ALREADY.
Just a simple pink or white lotus gentle floating on a glistening and rippling lake.
Like the picture would be the HUGE lake, but you see the lotus on the bottom right corner (OFF CENTER IS SO AVANT GARD)...although it is the smallest thing in the picture, your EYE would automatically draw attention to it.
That's spirituality right there. The smallest and most simple things, in a pure and calm manner, can become the loudest impression of them all.

open up the file in powerpoint, then take a screenshot of it, and paste the screenshot into paint or another photo editor. then just crop it and it should be ready to go.
hope that helps!

We have to be sure to include our description of WHY we are choosing this when we submit it for the challenge...all the symbolism and everything...don't leave out a detail...nothing is too small...I can go through and proofread what we collaborate, but we should all put our stamp of approval...I say we put a time to okay it...say 10pm EST...so that we know it is all good.
I like the picture and think the banner of us guys would go well with it too, especially with the theme of a well-rounded tribe. At this point, what conclusion have we come to as a name...Yak Loum, Phkaloum, or another variation (which should come soon if we are going that route...). If we go with Phkaloum...our rough translation would become "Lotus Lake"...nice, with everything we have researched...let's discuss and decide!!! ;D
